Vox Media and Bill Simmons Media Group Form a Strategic Partnership

Vox Media will lead sales efforts for The Ringer which will operate on Vox Media’s advertising and technology platform

Today, Vox Media and Bill Simmons Media Group announced a new sales and technology partnership that will bring the popular sports, culture, and tech website The Ringer to Vox Media’s advertising, technology, and audience platform.

In the first-of-its-kind partnership, The Ringer will be represented in market by Vox Media's global sales and marketing teams alongside SB Nation, Eater, The Verge, Vox, Curbed, Recode, Racked, and Polygon. The brand will also move to operate on Chorus, Vox Media’s proprietary technology and data platform for developing and growing digital media brands.

“Vox Media's expertise is building strong media brands that go deeper with audiences. We’ve proven that empowering the most talented creators is a successful model for growth,” said Jim Bankoff, Chairman and CEO, Vox Media. “Bill is one of our industry’s great innovators, with one of its most loyal followings. He shares Vox Media’s commitment to high-quality storytelling and branded content.”

For Simmons, "this partnership allows us to remain independent while leveraging two of the things that Vox Media is great at — sales and technology. We want to devote the next couple of years to creating quality content, innovating as much as we can, building our brand and growing The Ringer as a multimedia business.”

Plus, he added, “Jim and I have been trying to figure out a way to work together for a few years now, so I'm delighted it worked out."
